Located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, the Moxy San Diego is a cool hotel that is perfect for a solo business trip or a night out on the town! This was my second trip to San Diego, but first time downtown. Last trip I spent all my time in La Jolla with the seals 😉 I was in town for the Direct Booking Conference which was near the harbor and a short walk from the Moxy. Anyway, you’re not here for my schedule, so let’s get into the Moxy San Diego!

As you can see, this is a vibrant lobby with board games, a central bar, lounge area with Big Screen TV and with a lounge area upstairs. What you didn’t see was a front desk! After walking around for a few minutes with no luck finding one, I finally asked the bartender where it was. To my surprise, she said “here!”, then proceeded to stop slinging cocktails and get me my room keys! As this was my first time at a Moxy, I was blown away, but apparently this is a brand standard. After a friendly and speedy check in I was handed my welcome cocktail and sent off to my room.

As you can see, the room is cozy. Again, in line with the Moxy brand. When you stay at a Moxy, you’re there to socialize and enjoy the public space. So pack light! The bed was comfortable and perfect for a solo or couples trip. The best part though was the shower! The room may be on the smaller side, but they spared no space in the shower! Spacious with a rain shower head meant you could really relax. Rain showers are one of my favorite features.

The best part of the Moxy San Diego? The service! Hospitality is nothing without the personal, welcoming touch that you get from a great hotel staff. The bartender/front desk was full of attentive and friendly employees. Anytime I needed anything from what place to order food from or an ironing board, they were there to help with a smile! Everytime I walked through the lobby, they were having conversations with guests and making them feel welcome. I will most certainly be back to the Moxy and I recommend you check it out as well!!
